Cisarua Tourist Destination Oktober 25, 2008Posted by syairdunk in Tourist Destination.
The 63rd anniversary of Independence Day is a good chance for busy executives like me to take a long weekend. This time I took my family to a mountain resort in Cisarua, Bogor, West Java for a refreshing break.
It turned out to be surprising. I was amazed by the large number of Arab tourists in Cisarua. They were all around the resort area and we even observed some of their sleazy behavior toward some local women.
It felt so awkward I regretted my decision to book that resort and take my family and my in-laws there for a holiday.
I was particularly disturbed by how the local residents seemed to take it all in stride.
I suppose I should not be so surprised. Last year, when I stopped in Cisarua for a meal, I noticed many shops and travel agents displaying signs in Arabic.
I have read some articles in The Jakarta Post on contract marriages which take place there under local ordinances between Indonesian girls and women and Middle Eastern men.
As an expatriate man married to an Indonesian woman, I respect every expatriate who shows responsibility by marrying the love of their life. But I find the contract marriage concept unconvincing.
